The purest form of a Westward Single Malt

Founded in 2004 when there were only three dozen distillers in the USA, Westward is going stronger than ever today when there are more than 2000 in the country. Guess they are doing something right, right? In a completely new way of thinking about Whiskey, Westward has put this holy Spirit on a pedestal, proclaiming no tradition or whiskey-making process to be too holy to be reconsidered - if that means the Whiskey might be better for it. So they make things a bit differently. Building their flavor from scratch, by brewing pale ale from local Northwest malted barley and intensifying it by double distillation in custom low-reflux pot stills, they transform the fresh pale ale into a robust, bold, and exquisitely balanced Whiskey.

Westward Cask Strength American Single Malt is their original Single Malt doubled down. Non-chill filtered, cask strength, and a double gold winner at the San Francisco World Spirits Award, this Whiskey is a must-try. Every step of the process, from brewing to slow double distillation, and maturation in newly charred American Oak barrels, all happening right in Oregon, contributes to its rich and robust flavor, full of graham cracker, black pepper, cacao, baking spice, vanilla, and caramel notes. Bottled at 62.5% ABV, a splash of water is all it takes to unleash an extra layer of depth.

Nose gives me that standard vanilla, honey oak with hints of almonds and black pepper

Taste starts with tabacco, not something I usually like but is quickly overtaken by the maltiness and cocoa -. But a bitter cocoa. Not sweet then fades into the honey vanilla with a slight peppers bite.

Overall feel is smooth --. Slightly oily,, but ends dry making you feel like you need another sip

Overall. Very very good whiskey --. Just keep in mind, proof is cask strength.... Meaning if your not cateful, this shฤซt can knock you on your ร ss.

Excellent Single Malt American...

Excellent Single Malt American whiskey. The Cask strength adds additional robust flavors when compare to the regular bottle (62.5% vs. 45% ABV). Toasted nuts and black pepper aromas. Flavors tobacco, cacao, with a honeyed and a distinctive malted barley finish. Recommended! I rate 8.5/10
