If you want a guaranteed winner, go for Uncle Nearest 1856 Premium Whiskey—those 125 awards can't be wrong.

As one story goes, sometime in the 1950s, a young Jack Daniel went to work for a local preacher named Dan Call. Dan, who owned a small distillery as a side gig, was the supposed mentor that passed all the ins and outs of Whiskey making to Jack. But the official story is, as per usual, a little different. The man doing the distilling and the knowledge-passing was actually an African-American slave named Nathan Green. To all the people near and dear to him, he was also known as Uncle Nearest. He was the one who taught young Jack the charcoal filtering process, now used to make most of the Tennessee Whiskey.

When Fawn Weaver learned of this story, she decided to tip her toes in the Whiskey-making world and honor the life of Uncle Nearest by preserving his legacy. And thank the Spirits, for Uncle Nearest now stands as the fastest-growing Whiskey brand in the United States, receiving a ton of awards — seriously, it's practically drowning in accolades, holding the title for the most adorned Bourbon or American Whiskey of 2020, 2021, and 2022.

Their Uncle Nearest 1856 Premium Whiskey oozes pride from every caramel-colored drop. Pride, for within its very essence lies an awe-inspiring blend of Whiskeys from their own barrels that has claimed a mind-boggling 125 prestigious awards since its grand entrance in 2017. Distilled, aged, and bottled in the heart of Tennessee, this delightful elixir packs a punch at 100 proof, whisking you away with a bold and spicy kick that gracefully mellows into a sweet medley of caramel and maple, reminiscent of a batch of heavenly oatmeal raisin cookies. Savor it neat, let it dance with ice, or shake it up in your beloved cocktail—the method matters not, for its magnificence remains undeterred.

Apple warms you up

The hubs and I could smell and taste the apple. This whiskey warms you up and is nice with ice. Hubs liked it more than I did. He gave it a solid 9 out of 10. I settled on a 7 out of 10

Nose is caramel and brown sugar with some fruit. Taste is smooth with caramel sweetness followed by some nuttiness. Finish is long and smooth.

Not the Nearest we love

So we usually love Uncle Nearest, but this one hits you over the head with the spice. Water helps tame it a little so you can appreciate the other notes but it's just too much.
