New Bourbon on the block of legends.

Lexington Brewery & Distillery Co. is the first booze-making establishment built in Lexington, KY, in over a century and the only brewery and distillery combo on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Family-owned and operated by Dr. Mark Lyons, who represents the seventh generation of the Lyons family to be in the brewing, distilling and cooperage industry and founded by Pearse Lyons, the legendary Irish biochemist who also founded Alltech. Introduced in 2012, Town Branch brand bets on its lime-stone rich water source and local grains. The brewery/distillery creates Ales, Stouts, Gins, Whiskey, Ryes, and Bourbons. They ferment mash bills in cypress wood containers, while trusting the distillation to two large copper pot stills from Scotland. It is said that in every Spirit, there’s a bit of a Gaelic soul.

Town Branch Bourbon is 72% corn, 15% malted rye and 13% malted barley. It’s matured in oak casks (char level 5). Its color is wonderfully reddish, and its character is complex. Oaky nose transitions into spicy-sweet palate and a long warming finish. It’s the perfect choice for a quick Mint Julep, and it works well neat or on the rocks.

Decent taste, weird color.

Decent flavor. Actually got a little bit of the same flavors I get from Bruichladdich Classic Laddie with the added traditional bourbon flavors and some caramel. As for the color, it was more greenish gray and not the color in the description.

Aroma: sweet with hints of caramel. Taste: nice and smooth on the tongue with little burn. Definitely on the sweet side. Ice might water it down too much. Good sip straight and after dinner chaser.

Good value for the price! Got the tasting kit with this one in it and it was my favorite of the three samples. Lots of sweetness and if you like different styles of bourbon, this one is unique.
