Tobermory distillery is situated on the Scottish island of Mull, in the village of Tobermory. The distillery, formerly known as Ledaig, is the only distillery on the island. It was founded in 1798 by John Sinclair and has changed hands several times, having undergone a number of periods of closure.
These days the brand name Tobermory is used for all their unpeated malt Whisky, while the (lightly) peated Whisky is sold as Ledaig.
Tobermory 21 Year Cask Strength Manzanilla Finish was finished in Manzanilla Sherry casks. If you’re not familiar with Manzanilla, it’s a paler and dried Sherry that offers more salty flavors. Hence, this is not your typical rich Sherry finish. Expect more citrus and spice notes from this non-chill filtered beauty that weighs in at a respectable 107.6 proof. Only around 5,500 bottles were produced.
