A fine Irish Single Malt aged like a youthful Glendronach in Spanish Sherry casks… ‘nuff said.
Patrick Cooney knows Irish Spirits. He and his brother Nicholas purchased Gleeson — building the beverage-maker through organic growth and acquisitions to a nine-figure Irish giant. Patrick sold Gleeson in 2012 and has turned the family’s attention toward a new legacy — the Na Cuana beverage company and the Boann Distillery. It’s a true family business with his wife Marie, his daughters Sally-Anne and Celestine, and their sons Peter, Patrick, and James. Their brands include Adams Ciders, Boyne Brewhouse craft beer, Robert A. Murray Irish Cream Liqueurs, and The Whistler Irish Whiskies.
The Whistler Bodega Cask Single Malt Irish Whiskey is different from the other Single Malts and Bended Irish Whiskies in the Boann portfolio. Sure, it starts with their 100% Irish Single Malt Spirit. But where the vast majority of their releases get their primary aging in Bourbon barrels before going on to finishing, this dram does ALL of its aging in Spanish Sherry casks.
What does that mean? That means that this Irish Single Malt has more in common with The Macallan or Glendronach than it does with Jameson. And at 46% ABV you’ll find this a very tasty Irish Sherry-bomb.
