There’re two styles of The Gladstone Axe Whisky the American Oak and The Black Axe. The brand is part of the Biggar & Leith company, founded by the several-times great-grandson of the legendary 4-time Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, William Gladstone. Among other highly-appreciated progressive moves, William also signed The Spirits Act of 1860 and allowed for the birth of the contemporary Scotch Whisky industry.

He was the people’s man. Indeed, he’s the man for inspiring a brand of Blended Malt Whisky that celebrates Scotch by reducing its production to the two aforementioned perfected expressions.

The Black Axe is masterfully crafted from 14 Single Malts from the Highlands and Islay, with a higher quantity from Islay bottled at 41% ABV. It’s aged in oak barrels and has an exceptionally smooth texture. Try it! This twist on Scotch-making tradition sure is tasty.
