A blended Malt finished in first-fill Sherry casks for a hefty dose of Whisky magic.
In 1993 the movie Jurassic Park came out, Whitney Houston’s remake of “I Will Always Love You” spent ten weeks as the #1 song in America, and Alan Shayne founded Spirit Imports.
Alan had already spent decades in and around the Spirits business, and he even founded The Scotch Malt Whisky Society of America. But he set out to create his own brands of premium Spirits that he could be proud of. In the nearly three decades since his daughters Lauren and Gabrielle have joined the firm and together they manage a portfolio of eight brands and dozens of releases.
The Classic Cask is a brand of amazing single barrel and strictly limited releases of Single Malt from some of the best distilleries. Each bottle is numbered in series and once a release has run dry it is gone forever.
The Classic Cask 23 Year Oloroso Sherry Finish is part of a quartet of twenty-three year-old Spirits released in tandem. All are comprised of single-casks procured from Speyside, Highland, and Island distilleries — each hand selected by Master Blender David Hallgarten of the Glenaden Distilling Company. They were matured in their original casks for a full twenty-three years before being married and divided into quarters for finishing and bottling without chill-filtering. This release spent an additional six months in first-fill Oloroso Sherry butts, and Sherry casks do wonderfully magic things to Whisky.
