1. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, Marc Farrell founded Ten To One in 2019. With a vision to challenge rum stereotypes, he launched the brand to craft elevated blends that honor Caribbean heritage while pushing the boundaries of tradition. 

2. The name "Ten To One" is inspired by Dr. Eric Williams, Trinidad’s first Prime Minister. His iconic phrase, "One from ten leaves zero," symbolized unity and strength—values that now define this innovative spirit brand. 

3. Ten To One’s Five Origin Select features a rare 11-15-year-old Guyanese rum from the legendary Port Mourant Double Wooden Pot Still—the last one still in use! Dating back to 1732, this pot still, made from Guyanese greenheart wood, is famous for producing deeply aromatic rums.

4. Rum’s got tropical blood coursing through its veins. Most of it is produced in the tropics because of how easy it is to grow and cultivate sugarcane in that climate. But to be honest, Rum can be distilled anywhere that you can ferment molasses (or sugarcane juice).

5. The pot still (pure single rum) is the oldest, and arguably most authentic method of distillation, but the column still has been around since the early 1800s, which gives it just enough clout to be called a traditional distilling method.

6. Rum is why we measure alcohol proof. To make sure rum wasn’t watered down, it had to be ‘proven’ by soaking gunpowder with it. If it was ‘overproof,’ (higher than 57.15 % vol.), then the gunpowder would ignite, but if it wouldn’t, it was ‘underproof.’

7. Rum is a spirit for all seasons. Throw it in with some simple syrup and lime and you’ve got a classic Daiquiri perfect for summer sipping. But heat up some butter and sugar with your rum of choice for a hot buttered rum that can stand up to any polar vortex.
