Spirits Lab Bulls Head Straight Bourbon Whiskey

750ml
45% ABV

In the esteemed tradition of New York’s vibrant history, Spirits Lab Distilling Company presents Bull’s Head Bourbon—a testament to the spirited legacy of the legendary Bull’s Head Tavern, where George Washington and his troops toasted their victory before marching into Manhattan. Crafted with a blend of 70% corn, 20% wheat, and 5% malted barley, all sourced from the rich soils of New York State, this wheated bourbon matures to perfection for five years in select oak barrels. Each sip offers a rich palette of toasted corn, caramel, and spice notes, making it equally splendid whether enjoyed neat or as the base of your favored cocktail.

Good nose. Light, chared oak., corn. Very clean. Definitely sweet to spicy. Caramel and fruit on the back. Very nice

Sweet n' Spicy

The whiskey opens so mild and smooth. It's sweet throughout, but somehow this sweetness evolves significantly. Maybe it's more corn->grain->caramel as you move through the stages. And yet somehow as the sweetness progresses it hits a peak of spice that never gets harsh. Most other whiskeys with this level of spice are nowhere near as gentle.

This was a big hit for my wife and me. Bull's Head Bourbon May well be our favorite American whiskey so far this year! We saved a taste so that we can revisit in the medal round.

Clean and very sippable

Fragrance is Smokey, perfume, caramelly. Clean, not cloying bourbon. Not overly complex and requiring analysis. Toasty brown sugar builds gradually. Pleasant heat. Can imagine sipping while reading or over a conversation.

Best so far

Light gold, faint aroma. Sweet. Vanilla up front, some caramel, with some heat on the finish. Smooth, easy drinker.
