In the 1870s, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, bartender Martin Wilkes Heron concocted a drink that defied categorization β think Whiskey, but make it smoother and more easy-going. Martin took the harsh, unrefined Whiskeys of the time and mixed them with a mysterious blend of fruits and spices to create the original recipe for Southern Comfort, initially called Cuffs and Buttons. In the late 1960s, it became the unofficial drink of rock and roll, thanks to the legendary Janis Joplin. β she never went anywhere without her trusty bottle of SoCo, and her fans followed suit. The brand has since been purchased by Sazerac, who brought it back to New Orleans and put a renewed focus on the Whiskey side of things.
Southern Comfort Black is Bold. Spicy. Rebellious. With its smooth taste and the signature touch of stone fruit and spices, it adds a splash of seasoning to the sipping experience, taking the ambiance to whole new heights. The aroma mingles fruit and smoke in perfect harmony, while the silky mellow palate pops with that sought-after Whiskey character. With a lengthy finish, this bold Spirit equips your favorite cocktails with a spicy attitude. Seriously, it's no wonder Southern Comfort Black took home the Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2021.
