Adam Spiegel was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay area. As a child, his family took regular trips up to Sonoma County where he was surrounded by Wine culture. As an adult, he first launched himself into a career in finance. But the Spirits — so to speak — called him. In 2008 he worked alongside a friend to distill for the first time and he was hooked. Shortly thereafter he launched Sonoma Distilling Company where he and his team produce a range of California Whiskies — a list that now includes seven core products and the occasional special edition.

Will kick your booty

This one is harsh. It's interesting in its own way, but nothing we would intentionally purchase. I did find the essence of walnut interesting.

On the nose I could smell the rye. Upon tasting it was like paint thinner and vinegar. I almost feel like I got mine from a bad barrel. Would not buy again.

Rye grain and acetone on the nose initially, and then turns to herbal after a sip. Palate is good, but the finish is very grain-forward with a hint of mint. Really needs more time in the barrel IMHO.

One of my new favorite Rye whiskies. Really nice nose. Flavor profile is right up my alley, with some vanilla, allspice and pepper. Bold finish.

Nose is some spices with a mix of sweetness and vanilla. Taste is dried fruit followed by spices and some rye spice that is balanced by a hint of sweetness.
