A big fish in a big pond.
With producers such as Glenfiddich and Balvenie calling the town home, Dufftown is often described as the capital of Scotch Whisky. Too often though we forget that Dufftown is the name of a distillery in its own right. Nestled in the heart of the Scotch Whisky capital, Dufftown distillery has been creating sweet and fruity malt classics that have helped make Speyside one of the most famous Whisky-producing regions in the world. By no means however is this the case of a small fish in a big pond. Dufftown is the third biggest distillery owned by Diageo and a large volume of their malts contribute to popular Whisky blends such as Johnnie Walker.
Luckily the Singleton branding has allowed the single malt expressions of Dufftown to survive and we have managed to get our hands on some exclusive single malt varieties from the distillery. This 18 year-old has built on the success of its younger 12 and 15 year-old counterparts to create a malty Speyside classic packed with juicy fruit and a spicy finish. Given the history of the distillery this is a very reasonably priced dram and one of the oldest Dufftown expressions you can easily get your hands on. You don’t need to be a mathematician to know that a Scotch using a 50/50 mixture of European and American oak will be extremely well-balanced so put down your calculator and join us for a dram of a Dufftown classic.
