The story of SIA Scotch Whisky is wildly different from your standard founder-had-a-vision-while-sipping-on-something fare. A first-generation Cuban American, Carin Luna-Ostaseski was a web designer & creative director who was first introduced to Whisky in her 20’s by a friend who organized a tasting. This sent her on a path of discovery and sampling hundreds of Whiskies. This inspiring woman trained as a bartender, interviewed experts, and set her mind to creating her own brand and introducing her friends to Scotch Whisky. And what does the modern, internet-savvy entrepreneur do to address such an expensive and risky proposition as launching their own Whisky brand? That’s right… Carin launched a Kickstarter campaign in 2012 raising nearly $50,000 to launch her dream. One of the first Scotch Whisky brands launched by a Hispanic woman, SIA Blended Scotch Whisky was born in 2013.

Partnering with a Scottish blender that have been vatting and blending special edition Whiskies for generations, SIA Scotch is a blend of Speyside and Highland Single Malts with a touch of Islay added as well as Lowlands and grain Whiskies. The main malt comes from Teaninich.

This is an accessible, inviting, smooth and easy to drink Scotch for the modern palate. Distilled, blended, aged in a combination of refill and first-fill American oak ex-bourbon casks, and bottled at 86 proof in Scotland, the taste profile is approachable with warm vanilla, salty-sweet caramel, citrus, clover honey, buttery toffee, and just a hint of smoke. It’s been getting rave reviews and awards — like scoring Double Gold at San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2014, 96 pts at Ultimate Spirits Challenge in 2016, and "Outstanding!" with Whisky Advocate.
