The story of Sephina started with a love for cocktails and fortified Wine. Ken Gilbert, the founder, figured his favorite drink needed something more to be perfect — something that would “warm the body and settle the soul.” He went through his home bar, adding his favorite brown Spirits to the Wine, having a Eureka moment after mixing it with a VSOP Cognac. He flew to Europe several times to refine the formula, meeting with master blenders, tasting, and tweaking with them. When Ken found the perfect recipe, a future superstar was born.

Sephina is a sophisticated blend of VSOP Cognac from the Vinet-Delpech Distillery (with roots dating back to 1777) in the heart of the Cognac region and the famous Pineau des Charentes fortified Wine made in the same department. The 30% ABV unique blend boasts aromas of prune, dried fruit, and walnuts gently unfolding in the glass. On the palate, experience the merry dance of flavors of toasted oak, prune, dried fruit, vanilla, and candied fruit. The finish is long and memorable, with good intensity and a pronounced oak character. This sweet but not cloying drink is best enjoyed chilled neat or on the rocks.

What a great nightcap. Very smooth and flavorful. Yes, it is on the sweet side, but not too much for me. Just finished my first bottle. Can’t wait to get the next one.

Great after dinner

It is flavorful but on the sweet side. It’s perfect to be enjoyed after dinner with dessert.

Lovely sweetness on the nose and the palate. While I can imagine why some would say it tasted like cough syrup- I love the taste. There is a little bite on it and it lingers on the tongue.

This was pleasantly surprising. Nice nose and easy on the palette. A very nice sipper at room temp next to the fire.

Spicy after taste that is a pleasant counter balance to the sweet punch at the top of the sip. It is like a sharp port wine with the flavors of cherry and currant that is followed up with a candied ginger. Can be best enjoyed with a dark chocolate dessert.
