Bruno Mars releases a special owner's reserve Rum that is truly a masterclass in Rum aging and blending.
SelvaRey means “Jungle King” in Spanish. Their website lists the founders as “three brothers and Bruno Mars.” OK… you probably know who Bruno Mars is. The “three brothers” cryptically referenced are Seth and Marc Gold and their brother-in-law Robert Herzig. Seth had some success as a song writer—where he came to know Bruno Mars. Anyway… they all like Rum and decided to joint venture. Next thing you know — in the words of Bruno Mars — “Bang Bang Gorilla” a new Rum is born. But SelvaRey Rums ain’t just celebrity-endorsed marketing hype. They are premium Rums from the jungles of central Panama crafted by legendary Master Blender Francisco “Don Pancho” Fernandez.
Don “Pancho” Francisco Fernandez is more than a legend in the world of Rum. he has spent his entire life in the Rum busienss and is currently a master ronero at the Las Cabras Distillery in Panama. It seems that Bruno Mars wanted to make a statement, so he asked Don Pancho to blend the finest and oldest Rums in his warehouses to create and new standard for quality. When he was done, the final blend include a wide range of Rums — some aged fifteen and twenty-five years. And this new top-of-the-line SelvaRey Owner’s Reserve Rum arrives in a beautiful tapered decanter and gift-able box.

The aroma is complex with notes of crisp host sugar, orange zest, Dutch-apple pie topping, warm tobacco leaf, and deep-roasted nuts.

The flavor profile builds up from the aromas with notes of molasses, mixed nuts, grilled pears, toasted almonds, English toffee, ginger root spice, and caramel chews.
Finish
The finish is long and addicting with notes of butterscotch and war cedar.
