Sekk Sato Shiki Single Grain Japanese Whiskey

750ml
43% ABV

Sekk Sato Shiki is a Single Grain Japanese Whisky that redefines the whisky-making process. Distilled in the unique Sato Still, designed by Junji Mizue in 1989, it combines a 500-year-old Japanese distillation method with modern ingenuity. The still’s beehive-shaped column ensures a precise balance of flavors, creating a whisky that is both smooth and richly nuanced. Nestled in Miyazaki Prefecture, the Sato distillery draws its water from beneath layers of granite, imparting unparalleled purity and taste. With ingredients sourced from local farms and aged in a climate that enhances its distinctive flavor profile, Sekk Sato Shiki is a 100% authentic Japanese whisky, seed to sip. A great whisky to enjoy neat, on the rocks, or in an authentic highball.

Good Whisky

I'm new to Japanese whisky and liked this one a lot. Easy to drink with great tasting notes. I also tried it in an old fashion per the recommendation of another reviewer and it was very good. Orange peel and flavor goes well with this liquid. Next up is the Single Malt.

Advent Calendar Day5 Sekk Sato Shiki

3.5☆ First Japanese whisky, not bad; simple and smooth. My experience/taste is not as described by the site. I get corn/grain smells and tastes, slightly similar to moonshine I've tasted, just no burn or bite. I would recommend it to someone who is beginning to explore whisky/whiskey/bourbon. I may even buy a bottle for my home bar, if there are no other Japanese whiskys in this calendar.

Smooth

Unexpected experience - I like the floral aroma. Taste was good and less harsh than I would have expected from a Japanese whisky. Although good neat, I think its a good cocktail base. Lots of versatility.

Not a fan

I'm surprised everyone likes this whiskey so much. Yes, it's different from a lot of the American bourbon/rye style, but in a way that is bad. It's very alcohol forward and the taste is flat, not with any complexity or flavor. Maybe it would be good if you drank it in a specific Japanese cocktail (that I don't know how to make), but a good whiskey should taste great on it's own and this does not.

Delicious

Absolutely phenomenal whiskey. Smooth with beautiful floral notes. Easy drinking and smooth. A whiskey needed at the home bar.
