Rodney "Rod" Cegleski was a California surfer when he met an Australian Jackaroo named Hamlisch "Hammer" Marshall (a "jackaroo" is a young ranch hand down-under). In 2012 they started experimenting with brewing and distilling at the SLO Brew brewery in San Luis Obispo that Hamlisch had purchased. Distilling grew into a passion, and that passion developed into a business. They officially opened Rod & Hammer Slo Stills in 2019 and set about to build.

The insider term for these kinds of things is "RTD" — Ready To Drink. It is the hottest trend in Spirits these days and includes bottled cocktails. Makes sense… let the pros at the distillery mix you up a batch of your favorite sipper and just add ice. When Rod & Hammer decided to create one of their own there was really only one choice — The classic Old Fashioned. They have combined their signature Straight Bourbon with pure cane sugar and a healthy dose of premium bitters at 35% ABV. All you need is a glass, some ice, and maybe a slice of orange.

The aroma is full of bright citrus and toffee notes with a nice undertone of Demerara.

Flavor / Taste / Palate
If you are a fan of the Old Fashioned cocktail then what you expect is what it delivers — deepened Bourbon notes with blasts of citrus zest and wild honey with a dash of prune.

Finish
The finish is medium-length and nicely sweet.
