Two Bourbons walk into a bar, and out comes Rare Stash Bourbon #2.

Not all Bourbons are created equal. Dustin Poirier, the ex-UFC Lightweight Champion and rare liquid gem collector knows this fact all too well. The weather’s whims, the corn and grains' quality, the oak tree's pedigree for barrel carving — all of it comes together to imprint each batch with a distinct touch. To celebrate this diversity, Poirier co-founded Rare Stash, a company dedicated to blending rare, limited-edition batches of Bourbon that highlight their unique flavors. They don’t mess with mother nature — they let her call the shots. Their selection is crafted from the finest raw ingredients, yielding unparalleled and distinctive flavors. From their top-shelf distillation process that ensures the purest of pure distillates to their premium charred oak barrels, they take a backseat and let the rare, the natural, and the exceptional shine through.

Their Rare Stash Bourbon #2 is a lovechild of two Bourbons raised in different climates and barrels, resulting in an intense and well-rounded flavor profile. So let’s cover the stats. One of them is an 8.5-year-old, aged in char#4 white oak barrels at 124.6 proof, while the other is a 7.5-year-old aged in char#3 white oak barrels at 122 proof. It might sound complicated, but it’s like Yin-Yang — they just work. Brace yourself for a barrage of mouthwatering flavors from vanilla and butterscotch to orange zest and chocolate, all perfectly balanced by a warming sensation that lingers long after the sip is gone. No wonder it was crowned American Whisky of the Year 2022 by Bonfort's Top 100 Spirits.

Different, but not Terribly Exciting

Too sweet for a bourbon. That being said, it’s not just overpowering sweetness. The vanilla most prevalent in the profile with some butterscotch & chocolate. It’s not a bad bourbon, just not something I’d be interested in

Liked it, didn't love it.
Some sweetness, vanilla/caramel/nougat, the age/wood gives it some depth, medium finish.
It drank a little hot but not unpleasantly so.
Overpriced at the $120 member asking price, it's a sub $100 pour.

This is a rich, sweet, smooth bourbon-- the flavor spiral is right on. Mouth-filling flavor of caramel, vanilla and oak; long warm finish.

I get caramel and vanilla with maybe some ginger on the nose. Opens with oak then brings in butter before kicking in with a bit of a burn and lingering sweetness in the finish. This is a fine example of bourbon. I think there are others as good or better for the price, but I'd be glad to drink it if it were offered.
