Ransom Rye: A Six-Grain Symphony

Ransom Rye, Barley, Wheat Whiskey is a multi-grain marvel from the heart of Oregon. This complex concoction boasts a six-grain mash bill, including unmalted and malted rye, two-row and estate-grown six-row barley, crystal malted barley, and malted wheat. Distilled in a direct-fired alembic pot still, it matures for a minimum of two years in used French Oak Pinot Noir barrels. With an ABV of 46.7%, it delivers a rich tapestry of hazelnut shortbread, sugar cookies, and earthy rye spices, earning its place in the whiskey hall of fame.

Tad Seestedt founded Ransom Spirits in 1997. Ransom started out making Eau de Vie, Grappa and Brandy, before branching out to make fine Wines. In 2007 that the company started distilling grain-based Spirits; Gin, Whiskey and Vodka.

The distillery has been certified organic since 2011. Their Ransom Dry Gin is fashioned after Holland’s renowned malt wine genevers, combining the maltiness and hop aromas of the style with a decidedly more intense botanical infusion.

The selection of botanicals for this Gin was done with tradition in mind, it is, in essence, a terroir Gin with the inclusion of the iconic Oregon Marionberry and local hops. This highly aromatic Gin has the compelling attributes of both genever and dry Gin styles.

Equally representative of its Dutch heritage as well as its Oregon provenance. Sip it neat, or mixed in a Collins, Improved Holland Gin, Bramble, or Kopstoot.
