A new, craft Bourbon born on the West Coast.
California passed the "Craft Distillers Act of 2015." The law states that a distillery that produced less than 100,000 gallons of Spirits are allowed to host events and serve their Spirits on-site. Shortly thereafter, Rob Rubens became one of the first three to take advantage of the new law when he founded R6 Distillery and Speakeasy in El Segundo, California — just a few miles away from LAX Airport. He named his new operation after the six Rubens Brothers who founded the Rubens Rialto Theatre in Joliet, Illinois, back in 1926 during Prohibition.
R6 Bourbon Whiskey is Los Angeles' first Bourbon! It's a classic American Bourbon that’s made from midwestern yellow dent corn. Rye take second place, followed by a bit of malted barley to round out the classic mash bill. The Spirit is bottled at a very nice 43% ABV and has already started pulling down awards, including Silver medals at both the LA and Denver International Spirits Competitions. It’s a dram of California sunshine in a shot glass.
