An Italian Malt Whisky aged five years in Sicilian Marsala casks.
The Puni Distillerie was founded in 2010 by the Ebensperger Family at the base of the Ortler Mountains in the Italian Alps near the small town of Glorenza in the Venosta valley. Two years later the Scottish copper-pot stills were installed in the ultra-modern, architectural cube that they call the distillery, the first drops of Italian Whiskey dripped off the stills, and the first bottles were released in 2015. They currently have four Malt Whiskies, all eagerly welcomed by a growing list of fans.
The Puni Italian Malt line consists of five editions of their signature Spirit. Puni Vina Italian Malt Whisky gets its name from the Marsala Vergine Wine casks used to age this fine Italian dram. True to form, those Marsala Wine casks came from Sicily — making this Spirit a true Italian classic. Five full years in those sweet casks brings out deep, earthy flavors with notes of honey and figs.
Smartass Corner:
Marsala Wine is named for the city of Marsala, Sicily, where they have been making this sweet, fortified Wine for hundreds of years.
