Gin like sailors used to drink it.
The New York Distilling Company, based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn that heralds a return to the origins of spirit distilling in America. The distillery maps its past through the American distilleries that existed in 1700, and to the some 50,000 illicit stills in New York during prohibition. It seeks to emulate the past while creating high quality Gin and Rye Whisky.
From a distillery that continually looks back at its history for inspiration comes Perry’s Tot Navy Strength Gin. This Gin is named after Matthew Calbraith Perry, a Commandant of New York’s 1840s Brooklyn Navy Yard, who eventually made the esteemed title of Commodore. Perry’s Tot offers an amazing throwback to the Gin days of old. It's bottled at Navy-strenght, at 57%, making it one of the most potent Gins out there, but still drinkable. We suggest it in Cocktails, although, going at it neat is the way to go as well.
