Pendleton 1910 is a 100% Rye that delivers a kick in all the best ways.

Hood River Distillers was founded in Portland, Oregon, in 1934. In fact, they received the State of Oregon’s first issued distiller’s permit and began making Wine and Brandy based upon the apples, pears, and berries grown locally in the fertile Hood River Valley. Today the company produces more than a million cases of spirits across their portfolio of eleven brands — from Vodkas and Gins through Whiskies and Specialty Liqueurs.

One of the most important Hood River Brands is the Pendleton line of Whiskies — named after a nearby frontier town. Pendleton 1910 12 Year Old Canadian Whisky is named in tribute to the year of the first “Pendleton Round-Up” — one of the most famous traditional rodeos that is still a huge draw to the area each year. It is a pure, award-winning, 100% Rye Whisky aged a minimum of twelve years in charred oak issued each year in limited release. Giddy-up Cowboy!

Good drinker, spiciness can be smelled and felt. Water is good with this one.

Nose: a little heat on the nose, notes of licorice, maple, butterscotch. Taste: smooth, slight burn on the tongue, butterscotch, fruits, a little spiciness. Aftertaste: lingers, mellow, Adding Water: Easier on nose, more fruity aromas, opens up the fruit, no harshness, smooth linger.

I was very pleased with this one. Good enough to rebuy and keep it on the bar. I pickup some maple and just a little spice. Smooth and good.

A solid Rye for the price. Loved it at first and gradually became a bit less impressed as I made it through the bottle. Spice and tobacco on the nose with some back end sweetness and very true to that same description in taste. Worth a try if you can find it locally!
