Mike Hinds has always had a passion for Whiskey and Bourbon, but for nearly twenty years he was in the field of inventory logistics and liquidations. But he had the idea of buying whole barrels from distilleries and creating single-barrel releases for charity fundraisers. He decided to quit his day job and buy private barrels full time. Of course, he launched in January of 2020 (just in time of the pandemic), but things are working out well. He is still private-labeling for enthusiastic customers, is preparing to open a "pick you barrel" experience center with a bar on top, and has launched his first proprietary bottlings under his Nashville Barrel Company brand. Go get ‘em Mike!
Nashville Barrel Company Small Batch Rye Whiskey is a blend of four and eight year-old Rye sourced from MGP. Both are 95% rye and 5% malted barley. Importantly, it’s bottled at a nicely powerful 50% ABV — solid and beefy enough to stand up to a cocktail but won’t melt your fenders if you sip it neat or on the rocks. The profile is everything a Rye drinker is looking for with fruit tones mellowing out the brightly-hued spices and leaving you with a warm feeling all the way down tp the soles of your feet.
Appearance / Color
Ruddy Gold
Nose / Aroma / Smell
The aroma is like cinnamon-apple crumble with a hit of Aleppo peppers on top with a caramel drizzle.
Flavor / Taste / Palate
The palate brings more complexity with notes of toasted oak, marmalade, a dash of lime zest, more crisp apple, a twist of black pepper, worn leather, cinnamon, and allspice.
Finish
The finish is long and warming all the way down.
