Master Blender Trudiann Branker goes off the beaten path with Tawny Port casks.
Barbados is a beautiful place. It might just be the fact that Rum production is the primary industry of the island. It's also where the world's oldest Rum distillery is located. That's right, Mount Gay can prove it with land papers dating all the way back to 1703. Technically an independent distillery, Rémy Cointreau is the majority shareholder of the facility that controls the brand, yet they do a very good job of not interfering with the special kind of Caribbean magic that's wielded over there ― magic that whips the sugarcane, sea breeze, coral-filtered water, and tropical climate into concoctions that make any Rumhead salivate.

It's a blend of 5-year-old column-still Rums that have spent half a decade in Tawny Port casks with double-distilled copper-pot still rums that have spent 14 years in American Whiskey barrels, before being finished in Tawny Port barrels for another year. It's a showcase of what Master Blender Trudiann Branker does best ― pushing boundaries and experimenting until something utterly delicious is created. The Tawny Port casks bring almond and red fruit notes to the table, adding to the complexity of the juice.
