A mouthwatering Irish Whisky for a Sherry good time!

Who doesn’t love a good comeback story? We know we do — especially when it’s about Whisky. McConnell’s is one of the oldest and most renowned Irish Whisky brands on record, now rising like a phoenix from the ashes of the Spirits world, all thanks to the Belfast Distillery Company and their unwavering mission to restore the legend. Founded in 1776 by John and James McConnell, the duo quickly established themselves as the pinnacle of Irish Whisky production, making that delicious and smooth nectar before the “E” in Whiskey was even a thing. And even though the team has decided to stick to the original spelling, they aren't just stuck in the past — McConnell's is also making waves in the present, winning awards, gaining a reputation as a must-have Whisky in bars across the city, and even building a shiny new distillery and a visitor center at the Crumlin Road Goal in Belfast.

Their Sherry Cask Finish Whisky is an expertly crafted nectar, aged for five years in first-fill select Bourbon barrels before receiving its finishing touches in the finest Oloroso Sherry casks. The result? A Spirit that teases your senses with rich flavors of Demerara sugar, dark cherries, black raspberry, dark chocolate, and red apples. Bottled at 46% ABV and non-chill filtered, it packs a bold and complex flavor profile that earned it a 92 rating from Wine Enthusiast.

Premium Irish Whiskey

I wont pretend to be a connoisseur of Irish whiskey, but I have more than a few bottles and I've spent time with all of them. McConnell's Sherry cask finish is one of the best I've tried. Best compared to Bushmill's Black Bush (also excellent) the cask finish makes this very easy to drink, very flavorful and smooth. I have nothing against Jameson, except that it is not as good as some of these whiskies that actually cost less. McConnell's is one of them.
While the Sherry finish might make this too sweet for a hard core whiskey drinker, it is a crowd pleaser and wins over folks who only know Irish whiskey from an over indulgent March 17 experience (probably Jameson) - as an after dinner dram, this is hard to beat. I don't think this would hold up to cigars or go with a big meal of red meat, it is a little too subtle for that. Neat, perhaps a drop or two of water in a chilled glass... I think I'll have one right now!

Good aroma and flavor with the right amount of bite. The sherry cask adds a complexity that keeps me coming back to this bottle.
