OUR Barley for YOUR unforgettable sipping experiences.

Lochlea, an independently-owned distillery, started its journey with the seasoned expertise of Malcolm Rennie. Now, they've recruited the ex-Laphroaig Distillery Manager, the Whisky virtuoso John Campbell, to take the reins. With 27 years of experience, John brings a trove of knowledge and an insatiable thirst for success to help Lochlea unleash its full potential. Nestled on a family-run farm, they grow their own barley, nourishing local cattle with draff, and draw water from deep aquifers beneath the limestone steading. Love, care, and undivided attention are poured into every step of the process. But Lochlea's significance runs deeper—it's the very land that once inspired revered poet Robert Burns. Today, they nurture their malting barley in that same soil. And we bet old Robbie would be tipping his hat to them.

Shattering your low expectations... ah, apologies, we meant those Lowland Whisky expectations, Cochlea presents their offering as an entirely different beast. They use their own barley, unique to the region, nurture a loooong fermentation, and just go that extra mile when it comes to their cut points.Their Our Barley takes a ride in first-fill Bourbon barrels, Oloroso Sherry casks, and STR barriques before being bottled at 46% ABV. It proudly wears its non chill-filtered and no added coloring badges. The palate features golden syrup, a dash of pepper, rye bread, macadamia nuts, and even a hint of cream soda before playing out in a long finish that leaves you with an unforgettable orange beeswax note.

pear and honey

Can smell the pear and honey. While it still has the bite of alcohol, the sweetness comes out.

Beautiful fruits and sweet treats

Highest score of Advent 2023 so far! The nose is a bit predictable / underwhelming at first (until right after the first sip), with apple juice, Harp lager, and vanilla extract. The first sip is full of a fruit medley followed by a little spice. The finish goes on and on with sweet flavors and fruits -- very sweet but far more complex than something like a fruit cocktail. Really beautiful stuff, I'd be thrilled to drink this regularly.

Love it!

I'm not usually a fan of Scotchs, but this will convert me. I love this!

Subtle, sweet and smooth with a pleasant finish

Got that person in your family who doesn't like scotch? Let them try this. Nice and gentle with enough sweet notes to break them in

Our Barley

A good single malt. Nose is pear and marmalade. Taste is honey with some oak and nut in followed by a long finish with a touch of maple.
