Loch Lomond is one of the most beautiful and iconic places in Scotland. The largest lake in Great Britain has been revered by writers, poets and artists alike. But there’s more to enjoy in this inspirational national park than just wildlife and spectacular natural beauty. You probably see where we’re getting at. Distillery? Bingo. We’re not talking about just any old distillery, though.
Well, it is old; we’ll give you that, but it also very special in more ways than one. For starters, it is one of the few distilleries in Scotland producing both malt and grain Whisky. The latter is their specialty. Their grain crop has won numerous awards over the years and also attracted a considerable fan following. Because of the recent popularity of grain Whisky, we suspect nothing but good times lie ahead for our lakeside friends. They deserve it too, because the products are quality through and through.
Case in point - Loch Lomond Single Grain Whisky. You know one of the main reasons grain Whisky is all the rage right now? Because it’s extremely gentle and approachable. This expression is a lovely example of its welcoming character. An easy sipper and an awesome mixer. So, so smooth. There’s a twist though. Although distilled in a Coffey still and aged in ex-bourbon casks, this Whisky is made entirely from malted barley. Sort of like a single malt then, except for the different distillation process. It’s friendly, yet complex. It successfully combines the best of both worlds.
