A tasty four-grain Bourbon finished in Port casks that is hard to get your hands on.
Laws Whiskey House has become a fixture on the Denver scene. It was founded in 2011 by Alan Laws when he quite-rightly fled the world of high finance and capital markets to put his life to better use making fine aged Spirits. Today their lineup includes three Bourbons, three Ryes, and six special edition fiddly things. Growth has been so strong that this small, craft distillery located in the Mile High City has achieved national distribution deals and come to the rapt attention of Whiskey fans and awards committee.
We need to tell you that the quantities are severely limited. We’ve heard reports that some smaller outlets have run out of their allocation. Do not wait on this one my friends.
Laws Four Grain Ruby Port Cask Finish (Experiential Barrel) starts with their signature Straight Bourbon mash bill of 60% corn, 20% rye, 10% wheat, and 10% malted barley. Also like its siblings, it’s aged for three years in new oak and bottled at 47.5% ABV. The difference is that this dram was finished in Port casks — boosting the total number of years of aging and adding rich and deep fruit notes.
This is a gem folks. If demand is there, they will likely repeat the effort. But we tasted it and it’s a delightful dram that you want to sample no matter what.
