Lagavulin Distillery, located in the wild and untamed Hebridean Isles, is a one-of-a-kind operation that's been around since 1742 (when things were a bit more secretive if you get our drift). Fast forward to 1816, and they've been making legitimate, smoky-rich Spirits ever since. Using the "low and slow" distillation and their signature pear-shaped pot stills, their Whisky is aged for a minimum of 16 years in oak casks, resulting in a complex blend of peat smoke, seaweed, and wood. But here’s the thing. A sip of their smoky nectar will either transport you to Whisky heaven or will have you running for cover. In any case, Lagavulin has remained one of the top picks among true Scotch Whisky aficionados, including the famous Parks and Recreation star Nick Offerman who lovingly calls it "mother's milk."
Each year, a limited quantity of Distillers Edition is released, taking the already iconic Lagavulin Single Malt to new heights of depth, nuance, and complexity. The 2022 batch got treated to a second round of maturation in Pedro Ximenz-seasoned re-charred American Oak barrels that were previously filled with juicy, sun-dried grape wine. With a rich, raisin-sweet palate accentuated by fiery smokiness, this Distillers Edition is best sipped neat or with a splash of water to fully unleash the magic of its flavor profile — drink up and let yourself get transported to the magical rolling hills of Scotland.
