Gazing upon the Holmes Cay (pronounced ‘key') Rum collection is like looking at a high-end art exhibit — only better, because last we heard, you can't exactly sip on a Picasso. What you can do, is savor a sip of HC’s heavenly small-batch, limited-edition Rums. Eric Kaye and Maura Gedid, the husband and wife duo behind the brand, work like expert curators — scouring the seas for the best Rums from both expected and unexpected places. Their collection offers a variety of flavors that got crafted with the utmost skill and care, including their Single Cask selections that got aged in casks and Single Origin editions that are younger single expressions or blends. Right now, they've got 10 different countries' Rums up for grabs, but blink, and you might miss 'em!
The Holmes Cay Australia Beenleigh 2012 Single Cask Rum exhibits a serious case of wanderlust — distilled in the land down under, it spent 6 years maturing in American oak before jetting off to the UK for another 4 years of ex-Bourbon barrel fun. Finally, it made it to the Big Apple, where it got bottled at a potent 61% ABV. This all-molasses, 100% pot still Rum is not for the faint of heart — we recommend you grace it with a splash of water to unlock its unique complexity. The flavorful experience takes you through hints of vanilla on the nose, a swirl of fruity goodness, and mint on the palate, rounding off the journey with a perfect interplay of oak and mineral notes.
