A spectacular representation of the soul of Highland Park Single Malt.

Highland Park is the most northerly distillery in Scotland on the Orkney Islands. Legend has it that it was founded by Whisky smuggler Magnus Eunson in the late 1700s and that he used his position as a church officer to conceal Whisky beneath the church pulpit. Don’t assume that “Highland Park” means their Whisky is made in the Highland style. In character, their spirit is closer to a midpoint between Lowland and Islay Single Malts. Perhaps the most famous Whisky connoisseur of all time — journalist Michael Jackson — called Highland Park, “The greatest all-rounder in the world of Malt Whisky.”

There’s something special about twelve year old Single Malts. Don’t get us wrong, there are some amazing ten year olds and NAS Whiskies out there. But there is magic threshold at an even dozen years that we really like. Highland Park Viking Honour 12 Year Old is the core Highland Park Single Malt with the flavor profile of sweetness and light peat smoke that it’s famous for with the smoothness that only time can bring. And it’s won more than thirty medals and competition honors itself, lending a ring of truth to its name.

A perfect peaty scotch single malt

I tried this without many expectations based on the reviews. This single malt peaty scotch blew me away. Far exceeded my expectations. It surpasses both Ardbeg & Laphroaig 10, in many respects, it has a strong peaty taste they both have without the harsh "rubbery/band-aid" after taste (and I drink & enjoy both Ardbeg & Laphroaig 10) .
I put it almost on par with Lagavulin 16. Peaty, but complex. The Lagavulin wins, but just barely; this single malt at $40-$50 less then Lagavulin gives a good comparison. Given the cost benefit, I'll take this every day of the week.

Can't believe I waited this long to try it.

Best overall for everyday consumption

I like to have an everyday type Scotch on hand. You know the one that is your go to scotch that is great tasting and you never get board with it. This is it! It is very well rounded with great finish. It's not too peaty and not too sweet.

My everyday scotch.....superio...

My everyday scotch.....superior is all ways - taste, price, and availability. While not in the 'exceptional' category, you really can't go wrong with this single malt!!
