Highland Park Riptide

In 2018, the Malt Magician Gordon Motion scoured the Highland Park rickhouse and set his eyes on barrel #5187. The first-fill European oak Sherry puncheon cask held a Single Malt distilled in 2005, and Mr. Motion felt 12 years in Orkney climate was enough for this juice to turn into a remarkably deep and balanced Scotch. It boasts rich toffee and spice flavors that evolve into dark chocolate and nutmeg, with a light aromatic touch of peat.

This offering of only 568 bottles was released exclusively for the Mid-Atlantic market, and like its Europe-only predecessors, it was sold out in an instant. Those on the waitlist lucky enough to get it received a hessian bag fastened with a leather tie, and within, this gorgeous 65.5% ABV expression. Unique and highly collectible.
