Heaven's Door 'Exploration Series 1' Calvados Casks Finished Straight Bourbon Whiskey

I usually don't like anything above 100 proof, but this one is quite good. Really happy to get a $100 bottle of bourbon in my Flaviar subscription that cost less than $100!

This isn't harsh, has a nice finish that lasts without being overpowering.

So far this was my favorite from Champion of bourbon.
Because of being aged in apply Randy barrels it does have a unique taste.
There is a light alcohol burn up front that smooths into a complex layered flavor. A little ice really opened it up nicely.
I got vanilla, caramel, oak and apple. Which together gave it almost a warn caramel apple flavor. Light spices and a little toastiness.
It has a moderately long finish with nuanced flavors.
This would be a great bottle to share around a fire in fall or winter.
I really liked it, but if I was a bourbon purist it might give me pause.
I would definitely recommend it with an understanding of what it is.

Overall nice,pleasant taste. Wife and both felt a burn on the aftertaste- not a real Kentucky Hug - but it got our attention. I gave it 4 stars and yes, I would buy it again

That's just one of the worst bourbons I've ever tasted. The taste is a mix of black pepper and red hot cinnamon dots mixed with a watered-down traditional bourbon flavor. The oddest flavor is green apple at the very end.

Was puzzled by a couple comment's mentioning "Harsh". This bourbon goes down smooth, with a long lasting finish. My father, wife and I have loved this, and several more bottles have been purchased since. An excellent bourbon for under $100.
