Heaven's Door Bootleg Series 2019 Limited Edition Gift Box

In 2018 Bob Dylan registered the trademark for "Bootleg Whiskey", setting in motion a series of events that would lead him to collaborate with Master Blender Ryan Perry and Marc Bushala. The first is an experienced Spirit-crafter who cut his teeth on new & used cask programs for various Spirits under some of the largest producers, the second the entrepreneur behind Angel's Envy Bourbon. In early 2018 they cut a deal to craft a line of Bourbons in collaboration with the famous poet, troubadour, folk-rock music hero, and Nobel Prize winner. This is how the "Heaven’s Door" line of premium Spirits came to be. And unlike many-many other so-called "celebrity brands" that are all marketing hype, it has won over 40 medals along with a bunch of other accolades — presented in stunning artistic bottles.

This thing is a work of art. If you are already familiar with the Heaven’s Door Whiskies, you know that it’s big statement. The immortal poet of his generation, Bob Dylan expresses his art in song, the written word, sculpture, and paint. And now, of curse, he expresses himself in the art and Spirit of great Whiskies. And this new box set touches on all of those expressions. It starts with the Spirit — a gorgeous, smooth, low-rye Whiskey aged for… get this… twenty six years in rare Mizunara oak. It’s delivered at 55.8% ABV in a custom ceramic decanter emblazoned with Dylan’s “Railroad Tracks” painting and displayed in a hand-tooled leather presentation box.

Smartass corner:
Mizunara oak is native to Japan and Mongolia. The best examples grow in remote, steep and rocky outcroppings. And the wood ages slowly, meaning that trees must be two hundred years old before harvesting for barrel-making.
