Whiskey Advent Calendar - DAY N°. 1

Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon

750ml
50% ABV

This exceptional bourbon stands as a true testament to historic whiskey-making traditions, meeting and then exceeding the stringent standards of quality and transparency set by the Bottled-in-Bond (BIB) Act of 1987. It’s crafted by a family-owned distillery that leads in BIB whiskeys and is produced using diligently selected barrels from over 60 rickhouses across 7 sites. To receive the Bottled-in-Bond designation, a whiskey must be aged at least four years in wooden containers, but Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon is aged for three more years than required, adding extra depth and complexity.

A Bourbon Bonded with History, Craftsmanship & Awards

Proudly hailing from Bardstown, Kentucky, Heaven Hill Distillery has been family-owned and operated by the Shapira family since 1935.

Their commitment to excellence and quality led to their first Bottled-in-Bond bourbon in 1939, which swiftly became a top-performing whiskey in Kentucky.  Those same values persist today and are illustrated in Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond—a national darling with multiple Double Gold awards and the coveted 2023 Triple Still Award.

Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon
stands as a true testament to historic whiskey-making traditions and is crafted to meet the stringent standards of quality and transparency set forth by the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897. This means the bourbon is made by a single distiller at a single distillery, distilled in a single season, then aged for a minimum of four years in a federally bonded warehouse, and finally bottled precisely at 100 proof. The epitome of perfection.

Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond goes beyond these requirements: the liquid is patiently aged for an additional three years (seven in total) and bottled using only the most exceptional barrels, diligently selected from the distillery's extensive 70+ rickhouses across 7 sites. And with the additional time and effort invested in this exceptional whiskey, the resulting pour is nothing short of extraordinary!

BIB up to the bar and join us for a drink

This is a good start to the calendar. I have tried this before at a store tasting event & it holds up. The production value of the calendar is much improved over last year imo. I typically use BIBs for cocktails at home, and you can find similar quality for far less than the Flaviar price. That said, I would consider buying a bottle for a high proof sipper neat or on the rocks.
Well balanced. Great color and legs. Initial taste was warm, somewhat medicinal. Rye spice and alcohol provide 'heat' but again it is well balanced. The tasting pictures were pretty accurate. I found water opened the nose a considerable amount.
I gave it a 7 with upside. Cheers!

Nice start

This is a good start to the whiskey advent calendar. A classic bourbon with the expected tasting notes. Sweet, caramel, vanilla, some oak and char. Not too much burn. I’ve had this one before and enjoy it. 6.5/10.

Definitely Heaven Hill

Starting off the advent calendar with a decent pour. I like it, it's Heaven Hill. full-bodied, smooth and nice flavor notes.

Nice nose. Sweet. Definitely a long finish. Agree that this is not an everyday day bottle but it is almost relaxing. A good end of the day dram.
