A rich and buttery Tennessee style Bourbon at 50% ABV (get some).
In 2008, Stephen Gould and Karen Knight founded Golden Moon Distillery in Golden, Colorado. Stephen had amassed a world-class collection of antique books on Spirits and the art of distilling and they shared a dream to bring this knowledge to life — creating premium, hand-crafted Spirits. In twelve years that distillery has amassed dozens of awards recognizing distilling excellence and their success creating a wind range of Whiskies, Spirits, and Liqueurs.
The newest addition to the Gun Fighter line of Whiskeys from Golden Moon Distillery is an entirely different thing. Gun Fighter 13 American Straight Bourbon is a thirteen year-old Tennessee Bourbon that took home the Gold medal in 2019 at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. It seems that the good folks at Golden Moon somehow got the chance to scoop up a few premium orphan casks, making this a seriously limited edition that may not be repeatable.
Smartass Corner:
When big distilleries assemble their top-tier Spirits, the casks are individually sampled for quality and character. This allows the master blender to assemble the finished product from this group of winners. Sometimes there are a few casks left over. These are called "orphan casks."
