A true Navy Strength Gin that is assertive, well-balanced, and soft at the finish.
Green Hat Distillery was the first distillery to operate in DC since Prohibition. They opened up a popular tasting room and developed products like Green Hat Gin β named after a famously savvy DC bootlegger who supplied booze to the Capitol during Prohibition. The high-quality Spirits and charming back-story worked and sales soared. In 2020, it was acquired by MGP but the stills are still running in Ivy City and the distillery was named #3 Best Craft Gin Distillery by USA Today
Green Hatβs signature Original Batch Gin is a tasty treat indeed with a refreshing, unique profile all its own. Itβs a red winter wheat Spirit vapor-infused with classic botanicals and a few surprises β juniper, angelica, cassia, celery seed, coriander, grains of paradise, grapefruit zest, lemon, orris root, sage, and lemongrass
In the fashion of a true Navy Strength Spirit, Green Hat Navy Strength Gin really cranks it up a notch. Not only is it a much higher proof β 57.1% ABV β but it doubles up on the juniper and citrus. Expect bold but refreshing smooth notes of candied lemon, grapefruit, flowery lavender, and clover. A Gin that is bound to lift your hat in anything from your tonic-forward, juicy sweet, or tart cocktail.
Appearance / Color
Clear
Nose / Aroma / Smell
The aroma is wonderfully, powerfully fragrant with a bouquet of citrus, pine, and floral notes.
Flavor / Taste / Palate
The palate is equally bold, but well-balanced with juniper up front and fresh lemon zest, peppercorn, anise, and a light hit of those celery seeds smoothing out the back palate.
Finish
The finish is delightfully long for a Gin with a nice warmth and linger soft notes of rosemary.
