An homage to the true roots of American Whisky production.

The George Dickel distillery was founded in 1877 and later bought by George A. Dickel in 1884. George Dickel believed his spirit was as fine as the one from Scotland so he dropped the “e” in Whiskey and used the traditional Scottish spelling Whisky. He also believed that Whisky made in the winter is smoother than one made during the summer—which resulted in making George Dickel the only Tennessee Whisky that is chilled before it is put into the charcoal mellowing vats. This extra step ensures the filtering of oils and fatty acids, making for a lighter and smoother dram. He called his Whisky as “Mellow as Moonlight”. Throughout time, they changed locations several times but eventually came back home to Tullahoma, where the brand is still distilled and aged today. The distillery is part of the American Whiskey Trail.

Leopold Bros. was founded by Todd and Scott Leopold in 1999. Todd has degrees in Malting and Brewing and Scott has his degrees in Economics and Industrial Engineering. These two brothers have since done the sensible thing and founded a distillery — first in Michigan, then moving everything back to their home state of Colorado. Their core lineup today is winning lots of awards and consists of Gins, Straight and Flavored Whiskies, Vodka, Aperitifs, an Absinthe Vert, and a few other tidbits.

George Dickel and Leopold Bros. have now joined forces. Mixing Leopold Bros’ Three Chamber Rye with George Dickel’s Column Still Rye produced and Three Chamber Distilled Rye, this heavy-bodied Whisky pays homage to the true roots of American Whisky production. Think robust Rye Whiskey served at bars and saloons throughout America. The never-before-released Column Still Rye was chill-filtered through maple charcoals at Cascade Hollow. It’s the perfect match for a Pre-Prohibition style Rye Whisky. Savor neat.
