Learn more >A King-worthy Rum.
Rums are usually made on paradise islands and for the Emperor it's doubly so for it's made on the island of Mauritius. Sandy beaches, heavenly blue sea and lush forests is where the French introduced sugarcane as a crop back in 18th century, and it's a perfect place: nonstop sunshine and almost no rain. So, it's no coincidence Mauritius produces some of the best Rums in the world.
The Emperor Rum is named after King George V (you know, Michael Gambon in The King's Speech) and its Private Collection Rum Château Pape Clément finish is the first one in the collection. Their aim is to present unique and exceptional Rums, and that's exactly what they just did with this bottle. They've blended the best old distillates from the island and aged it in French and American oak barrels for five years.
Then they finished the concoction in barrels that used to be inhabited by Château Pape Clément. Now, Château Pape Clément is one of the oldest vineyards (Grand Cru) in Bordeaux, older than the great USA. It's a premium "grand vin" and putting a Rum in its barrels is as decadent as it is brilliant.
The result is a rich expression of Rum with smoothness worthy of a King.
