El Tequileño The Sassenach Select Double Wood Reposado Tequila

A very limited offering that brings together premium Tequila and The Sassenach Whisky.

Sam Heughan has burst on the scene due to his starring role as romantic lead "Jamie" in the TV series "Outlander." He has taken his success and lived the dream of founding a new company — the Great Glen Company. And though the details are sparse, The Great GlenCompany has released its first product — a line of Whisky called The Sassenach.

In 1959, Don Jorge Salles Cuervo founded the La Guarreña distillery in the town of Tequila, Mexico. It was a family affair from the start and Don Jorge carried the family tradition on with his son joining in 1970, followed by his grandson in 2005. They get their fine agave from the highlands of Jalisco and it takes only 4 hours by truck for it to reach the distillery. It’s then cooked in steam pressure autoclaves, which Don Jorge pioneered in 1959. There are 150-year-old mango trees just steps away from open fermentation tanks and they get pure volcanic spring water from the extinct Volcan de Tequila. El Tequileño is still family-owned and produced at the same distillery today as Jorge Antonio Salles, the grandson, took over and he’s working as Master Distiller. Beautiful stuff.

El Tequileño The Sassenach Select Double Wood Reposado Tequila is a collab between the Tequila masters at El Tequileño and the actor Sam Heughan. This small-batch Tequila is a limited-edition bottling that’s crafted with agave from the Jalisco highlands and mineral-rich water from El Volcán. It's aged for 2 years in American oak before it’s finished in French oak for 4 months. This finish is a compliment to Great Glen's The Sassenach Whisky. Prepare for seriously delicious flavors of cooked agave, toasty oak, light vanilla, sweet spice, and herbal notes with a hint of caramel.
