Different, but never boring.

"I like to have a martini, two at the very most. After three I’m under the table, after four I’m under my host." Dorothy P.

Dorothy Parker wan an American poet, writer and critic, famous for her wit and humor, which is quite apparent from her quote above. She was a member of the Algonquin Round table, a celebrated group of New York City word slingers from the first half of the 20th century and one of the era’s most beloved authors. Her reputation dwindled somewhat in recent decades, but thanks to the guys at the New York Distilling Company, her name is resurrected in Spirit. The company is based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and focuses on the return to the origins of distilling in USA. The company maps its past through the American distilleries that existed in 1700, and to some 50,000 illicit stills in New York during Prohibition. Ironically, it’s the respect for the past that makes their products especially future-proof.

They decided to brand their latest addition to the line-up after the author, known for her love of Gin and a tipple or two. Dorothy Parker American Gin is a blend of traditional and contemporary botanicals bottled at 44% ABV. Like with any classic Gin, juniper is the base from which to build on. But they have also added coriander, green cardamom, cinnamon, elderberries and hibiscus into the mix. Mix is the name of the game since this is a beautiful cocktail Spirit. It was easy to identify with Dorothy Parker back then and it’s easy to identify with her now. She loved a good party and a loved good drink. She was different, but never boring. No need to confuse things further, life is complicated enough. She was true and genuine and so is her namesake Gin. Light and approachable, but most importantly, one-of-a-kind.
