Imagine a powerful local businessman giving a huge load for starting a distillery to a young lad of only 17 years old. We know what you’re thinking, it can’t be! But that is exactly what happened in 1942, in Jalisco, when young Julio González went looking for investors to create the world’s first luxury Tequila. Swearing by “quantity over quality” long before it was popular, Don Julio planted agave further apart than any before him, allowing the holy plants proper room to grow and develop much richer and sweeter piña. To create this unprecedented Tequila, he would then hand-pick only the sweetest portions of the piña that were harvested at the very peak of ripeness.

To honor this revolutionary man, Don Julio distillery created Rosado Tequila Reposado, a unique take on Tequila that differs a bit from the traditional Don Julio flavors, but holds the same highest standards of quality to which Don Julio committed his life. This exceptional Reposado is finished in Ruby Port wine casks from the Douro wine region of Northern Portugal, creating some of the more interesting flavor profiles we have had the pleasure to taste in a Tequila.
