So smooth and delicious. A little sweet upfront with a nice burn at the end. Unlike some anejo and extra anejo I’ve had, the agave is still very detectable. While I haven’t had the 1942 yet, DJ anejo is the best anejo I’ve tried so far.

It has been YEARS since I drank any tequila. As an avid scotch & bourbon drinker I decided it was time to experiment with Tequila again so I chose to try a mid tier Añejo and went with Don Julio. I was so genuinely surprised when I tried this I looked at my wife and said “oh wow!” I’ve always loved whiskey but gagged when I had tequila and this was the first time I’ve been able to notice and appreciate actual nice flavor in a tequila. I feel similar to this as I do to Glenlivet 12 year scotch. It’s excellent for the price and a great entry into that type of spirit that even a seasoned drinker can go back and enjoy when they are on a budget, while also recognizing that it certainly is not the best that the spirit world has to offer! Don Julio añejo has great smooth flavor and is a great place to start for $59.99.. For the first time in my life I find myself thinking, “I should buy a top shelf tequila now!” This is a good place to start but I just know that it gets better from here!
