Dictador XO Solera Insolent Rum

Dictador is one of those elite brands, any true Rum aficionado should sample and experience. Destilería Colombiana, based in Colombia, has been distilling high quality Rum for more than a century. Only recently though, they’ve stepped away from blends and started developing their own private label – Dictador Rum. It was about time too, since their solo products are pure quality. It’s no wonder that their Spirits consistently win awards and the praise of Rum-lovers everywhere. Based in Cartagen on the Carribean coast, the combination of land and weather provides the perfect base for sugar cane growth and therefore Rum production.

The Dictador XO Insolent is made from the fermentation of unique virgin sugar cane honey, then distilled in a modern stainless steel alembic. It is aged in a selection of casks, ranging from ex-bourbon, ex-sherry to Port using the famed solera technique. Younger Rums are aged in oak casks and then blended with older Rums. The marriage of old and new provides an end result that is one of the most exquisite Rums you’ll ever get to taste. The harmony of flavours is admirable. Extremely smooth and balanced, but with a bit of a kick. Insolence, perhaps. If you love Rum, heck, if you love spirits, it doesn’t get much better than this. A package full of character and integrity. They say you can’t buy class, but in this case - you can.
