There's a certain charm to knowing where your food comes from. To know whose hands grew and picked the produce you're bringing home today. Same could be said for Whisky, especially if the grain used in the process and the final product come from one farm, one family.
Daftmill Distillery is a small, family-owned and operated seasonal Lowland Distillery, located in the Kingdom of Fife, in a converted meal mill. Just like everything else in a farmer's life, Whisky-making here has it's own place and time, so the distillery operates only during the farm's quiet seasons. So from June to August and November to February each year, when not tending to the barley fields, the Cuthbert family distilles a very limited batch of exceptional Scotch Whisky in the Lowland style—sometimes even as limited as 100 casks per year.
This Daftmill 2009 Summer Batch Release was distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2020 from a first fill ex-Oloroso Sherry butt and four ex-Bourbon barrels. Only 1875 bottles were made in total. It's a small, but honest offering that keeps increasing its following among Whisky collectors and investors.
