Daftmill 2006 Summer Batch Release Scotch Whisky

Daftmill is a teeny-tiny distillery by today’s standards. It’s a throwback to the era of farmhouse distilleries of the 1800s. The total annual capacity is just 20,000 liters. To put that into perspective, Glenlivet produces that much in half a day. Daftmill is the passion project of co-founder Francis Cuthbert. His family were tenants of the land near Fife, Scotland, before purchasing it from the Walker family in 1984. In 2005 they were granted a license to distill on their land. And they were VERY patient — issuing their first release in 2018 of those first distilled Spirits.

Daftmill 2006 Summer Batch Release Scotch Whisky is just the second release from this boutique distillery in the Lowlands. This twelve year-old Single Malt was pulled from just seven first-fill ex-Bourbon casks yielding only 1689 bottles in total — bottled at a perfect 46% ABV. All of the barley used to make this Spirit was farmed by Francis Cuthbert himself. It just does not get any more wonderfully authentic than this. Each bottle is wonderful and eminently collectible.
