The next level of Canadian Whiskey magic
In a tiny community of Gimli (or ‘heaven’ in Icelandic), right by Lake Winnipeg, the Crown Royal Distillery proudly stands since 1938. Its still house serves both as a landmark and a guide for fishermen that brings them safely ashore. Almost 1.5 million barrels of Whiskey sit quietly in the warehouse, waiting the perfect time to fill equally patient bottles. The distillery’s founder had a special mission in 1938: create the perfect blend worthy of royalty – namely the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (current queen’s folks), who visited Canada the following year. After 600 blends, he finally found the winner, a blend of 50 Whiskies. His shop has been making aristocratic Spirits ever since.
The 13-year-old from the exquisite Noble Collection is as royal as it gets. The smooth expression was made from a corn-forward Bourbon-like mash bill (60% corn, 36% rye, 4% barley malt) and spent thirteen winters in charred new American white oak until it reached its rich and complex character. Crown Royal’s 13YO was designed for royalty and is best enjoyed neat.
