Compass Box, the Scottish artisanal Whisky maker has become a shorthand for adventure and mouth-watering stunts. Founded in 2000 by John Glaser, Johnnie Walker's former Mad Man, who thought everyone made Scotch the same way and the world needed something new. He created a company based on the long-forgotten model of Scotch blending house. Compass Box creates custom barrels from premium oak, picks the best Whiskies their laser-focused team can find, and conjure mind-boggling blends. Compass Box Stranger & Stranger is a limited edition (4802 bottles) release that celebrates ten years of working with the packaging design company Stranger & Stranger. The name of this expression is straightforward, but the Spirit is much more than that. It's a bold, perhaps a tad sacrilegious experiment of making one percent of the blend a non-Scotch Girvan that spent one year in American oak barrels to season the wood. The other 99% consists of Glenlossie, Glen Elgin and Linkwood, which create fresh fruity and herbal aromas and flavors. That one-in-a-hundred Sacrificial Spirit brings a lively sweetness that polishes this fascinating limited delight.
