A truly unique grain Whisky.

The year was 2000 when John Glaser started the Compass Box Whisky Company in his kitchen. An American in the UK, he used to work for a large distiller before he thought, everyone is making Scotch Whisky the same way, why not shake things up and bring back the old model of the Scotch Whisky blending house. So, he threw himself in blending boutique Scotch Whiskies. But how did they go from kitchen to Blending Room in London with more than a dozen of employees, you ask? Not by compromising any quality, that's for sure. Sourcing only the best oak from the Vosges in France and the woods of Missouri, making your own custom casks and seeking only the best casks from the very best distilleries oughta do it.

Oh, and unlike mass produced Whiskies, they are careful not to go too crazy on the number of components in their blends. They also don’t believe in chill-filtering or adding artificial color, but they do believe great wood is important and so is drinking good Whisky any way YOU like. Ah, a manifesto we can get behind!

If you think all grain Whisky must be light and creamy, you might want to rethink that. Compass Box Limited Release Experimental Grain Whisky is made only from malt. But it’s also sweet and smoky. How come? This special bottling was made with Whisky from the Loch Lomond Distillery that was crafted with peated malted barley and distilled in their copper Coffey still. It’s still a 100% malted barley Whisky but because a column still was used instead of a pot still, it can’t be classified as a Single Malt. Grains from the Cameronbridge and North British distilleries were then added to the blend to bring notes of fudge, vanilla, and set honey, on top of the smoky and piney base, full of patchouli oil flavors. Add a drop of water and enjoy this paradoxical and remarkable Whisky.
